What Is Paint to Sample?
When most people buy a new vehicle, they have a limited number of paint options to choose from. If they want to have a car in a color that is not available from the vehicle manufacturer, they have to seek out a paint shop on their own and hope the auto painter does a decent job.
Porsche works differently than most vehicle manufacturers, though. Porsche believes their clients deserve to own a car that is the exact color they desire. The Paint to Sample (PTS) and Paint to Sample Plus programs are a way for Porsche clients to have complete control over the color customization of their cars. When purchasing a Porsche, clients will be able to choose from a broad range of preapproved colors using the Paint to Sample program or, if they want a truly unique paint job, clients can choose their own, totally bespoke color through the Paint to Sample Plus program.
How Does PTS Work?
To take advantage of Porsche’s Paint to Sample program, clients can work with their dealer to select a custom color for their Porsche. Though each model comes with a wide range of paint color options, the availability of different colors varies depending on the model selected. If a client would like to browse their color options before discussing them with the dealer, Porsche has made it easy to digitally visualize a wide range of paint options on different models on their website.
Clients can also work with their dealer to choose a totally unique paint color option for their cars. Porsche offers their Paint to Sample Plus program on all models except the Cayenne. To make a unique color request, simply bring a color sample to a Porsche dealer, and they will forward it to Porsche AG where it will be thoroughly tested for quality and feasibility. If Porsche finds the color to be feasible, they’ll send a sample to the client for approval before painting the actual vehicle.
What Color Options Are There?
With Paint to Sample, clients will get to choose from up to a staggering 160 colors on celebrated models like the 911. If opting to go the Paint to Sample Plus route, a Porsche can be any color the client pleases. If they want to paint their Porsche in the color of their favorite sports team, a beautiful precious metal, their favorite nail polish, or their lover’s eyes, Porsche can make it happen. The options are endless.
